The Importance of Wild Flora

The importance of wild grass has recently been given prominence on various media. These publications continue to echo our appeals so that wild grass is no longer cut due to its importance for 𝐛𝐢𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 and the 𝐟𝐚𝐮𝐧𝐚 that sustains itself on it.

𝐀𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐬:
• It is high time to start looking into measures that replace trees and plants that are used for landscaping and gardens that require a lot of maintenance, with native and endemic ones because they require less resources to maintain, and are therefore more sustainable.
• Measures that lead to reckless increases in foreign honey bee colonies, will continue to weaken the Maltese bee due to hybridization processes. These additions would also be very detrimental to other wild bees too!
